Help
Sentenzia is a party game played in person: the app puts cases about your group, you vote in secret, the app hands down the verdict and the arguing begins.
Something not working, or a question? Write to hello@hlrstudio.dev or from the app, in Settings › Write to us. If something broke, tell us your phone model and your Sentenzia version (it's at the bottom of Settings).
How do you play?
- Open court. A case appears on every phone and the judge of the round reads it out loud.
- Vote in secret for whoever fits best. If you like, say why with a plea: nobody will know it was you.
- Sentenzia! The judge bangs the gavel and every phone reveals the convicted, the count and the pleas at once. Vote for the best one.
- The convicted fights back out loud and can appeal once: if the jury is convinced, they walk free.
For 3 to 20 players (better from 4: with 3 it's easy to guess who voted what). To see it before you meet up, Practice trial on the home screen, with a pretend jury; and the rules, in How to play.
Do the others need to install the app?
No. Whoever opens court shows the room's QR code and the rest scan it with their camera, or open the link (sentenzia-hlr.web.app/s/CODE): Sentenzia opens in the browser, they pick a name and an avatar, and they're in. No account, no email, nothing to pay. If they have the app, the link opens it. They can also go to sentenzia-hlr.web.app and type the 4-letter code.
What's free, and what's the Pass?
The whole game is free: opening court, joining, the vote, the verdict, the reply and the appeal, the final judgment, the inbox for your own cases and the Classic pack. The Presidency Pass is a one-time payment (no subscription, no ads) that unlocks every other pack, today's and future ones, Spicy 18+ and My decks. Only whoever opens court needs it: the jury plays free with their packs.
I bought the Pass and it isn't showing
Go to Settings › Presidency Pass › Restore purchase (it's also on the Pass screen). The purchase belongs to your store account, not the phone: on a new phone, sign in with the same account and restore. A purchase made on the App Store doesn't carry over to Android, or the other way round.
If the store charged you and the Pass still won't switch on, write to hello@hlrstudio.dev.
I'm switching phones mid-game
You don't lose a thing: the game lives on the server. The presidency opens The jury, taps your name and chooses Move to another phone: they'll get a 6-digit number that works once and expires in 10 minutes. On the new phone, Join the courtroom › Back on another phone?, the room code and that number.
If it's the presidency switching phones, they can hand over the presidency first; and if they're gone for more than 10 minutes, anyone can take over.
A case doesn't sit right with us
Before voting, anyone can tap Not this case: it disappears for the whole room, another one comes up, and the case is reported so we can review it (with nobody's text).
A plea upset someone
Anyone can cover it for everyone with the crossed-out eye next to it, no questions asked. If someone goes too far, the presidency can remove and block them from The jury. And you can tell us at hello@hlrstudio.dev.
Can anyone find out who I voted for?
No. Not the table, not the presidency, not us: the server counts the votes and deletes them. A plea only carries your name if you sign it when the app offers.
What language are the cases in?
In the app language of whoever opens court, and the room keeps it to the end. Change it in Settings › Language before opening. Each language has its own cases, written for it.
Delete my data
In the app, Settings › Delete my data: it's instant. If you no longer have the app, here's how to delete your data. What we keep and why is in the privacy policy.
Laugh with someone, never at them.
